Ka Foon Francis Ng

An active singer, Francis Ng performed as concert solo with a number of groups back in Hong Kong while studying, including Hong Kong SingFest, Hong Kong Youth Choir, Cantabile, Chung Chi Choir, CUHK Student Orchestra, performing Cantatas of J.S. BachGeorge Frideric Handel‘s Messiah and more.

The Hong Kong Chinese tenor Francis Ka-Foon Ng obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Music with First-class Honour/ cum laude from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2018, where he studied with baritone Caleb Woo, and where numerous performance and academic scholarships were awarded to him. He passed his ATCL recital in Singing with distinction in 2013 under the tutelage of Gerald Hon. He recently graduated cum Laude from the master programme from Codarts Rotterdam (Classical Singing), aka Rotterdams Conservatorium, under the tutelage of Dutch tenor Marcel Reijans. He is also an awardee of Hartman Award, an award for students graduating with exceptional performance. He participated in several master-classes, coached by Margreet Honig, Carolyn WatkinsonKatherine Goeldner, Dongjian Gong , Hans Eijsackers and more.

Upon his arrival in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Francis Ng has often been invited by various groups to perform as a concert soloist. and his repertoire encompass music of Baroque to Post-Romanticism, including J.S. Bach‘s St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244) Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria and so on. Recently he made his operatic debut as Le Remendado in Opera Spanga’s production of Georges Bizet‘s Carmen. In the 2021-2022 season, he will have two role debut, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore and Nadir in G. Bizet‘s Les Pêcheurs de Perles, with Opera Viva Festival and Opera Festa.

As ensemble/ choral singer Francis Ng sang under the baton of internationally renowned conductors, such as Helmuth Rilling (J.S. Bach’s Cantatas, Hohe-MesseBWV 232Weihnachts-OratoriumBWV 248), Rolf Beck (W.A. Mozart‘s Requiem), Jaap van Zweden (Wagner’s Götterdämmerung), John Butt (J.S. Bach‘s Johannes-PassionBWV 245), Muhai Tang (Shengs Dream of the Red Chamber), Yannick Nézet-Séguin (Strauss’ Die Frau ohne Schatten), Andrew Manze (L.v. Beethoven‘s Symphony No.9) and more. He is currently based in the Netherlands.
